"Greenwood" Fine Art Glass Panel
"Greenwood" is a sparkling, handmade kiln formed glass fine art panel. It is part of the Trees Series in the "V" collection which celebrates the life and art of the French impressionist painter, Vincent Van Gogh. Trees were a favorite subject of Van Gogh, and he painted many of them.
The style of this glasswork is Modern Impressionistic Abstract, and it expresses the essence of a cool, blue-green forest sanctuary in the heat of summer. The deep waves in the form bend and reflect the light bouncing through the transparent layers, interrupted by the opaque stripes of copper strips. The colors are bright and airy, creating a mood of happy peace.
Greenwood was created by layering clear fusible art glass laced with hand applied mineral oxides. Genuine copper strips were used as inclusions between the glass layers to suggest the trunks of trees. The panel was fused flat in a kiln, then re-fired to slump over a wavy stainless steel mold to produce the 3-d rippling effect. The panel is mounted with elevation above its aluminum presentation panel. Mounted size: 25"w x 25"h x 3"d.
